Endoscopy

Gastroscopy and Colonoscopy

Our newly upgraded in-rooms endoscopy suite with recovery room offers diagnostic and therapeutic interventions. Gastroscopy is commonly used to evaluate conditions such as dyspepsia, heartburn, difficulty swallowing, anaemia and hiatus hernias. Our colonoscopy service provides screening for colonic polyps, colon cancer and inflammatory conditions. Our experienced endoscopy nurses will assist you through the process.

Colorectal Surgery

Colorectal cancer is now the 3rd most common cancer in South Africa. We offer work-up and surgical management within our multidisciplinary team. 

We are experienced in non-cancerous laparoscopic colorectal surgery for diverticular and inflammatory diseases of the colon. Perianal and hemorrhoid surgery is also provided.

Laparoscopy

Our surgeons are experienced in advanced laparoscopic surgery (also known as keyhole or minimally invasive surgery). Typically these operations are done through 5-10mm incisions. We offer a laparoscopic approach for most aspects of abdominal surgery including gall bladder, colorectal, upper gastrointestinal, hernia and emergency surgeries.

Hernia Surgery

A hernia is a weakness in the muscle which causes a bulge. Many different types of hernias are known. Examples include inguinal, umbilical or incisional hernia's.

In the modern era of hernia repair the majority of cases are now done laparoscopically (key hole surgery).

Breast Surgery

We offer the assessment and diagnoses of breast lumps.  Breast surgery offered by our multidisciplinary team covers breast cancer surgery. Surgery is also offered for benign (non-cancerous) conditions such as fibroadenomas and cysts. 

Hospital Corridor

Endocrine Surgery

Endocrine surgery involves the surgery of hormone producing organs in the body for example the thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal gland.

The most common organ involved would be the thyroid.  Surgery may be required when a nodule (mass) is noted in the thyroid.
